Content Marketing Commute
A podcast that opened doors.
An independent, on-location podcast that turned conversations with B2B marketers into professional relationships, two consulting clients and a new career opportunity.
The challenge
I wanted to build my reputation in B2B marketing, meet interesting people and create new professional opportunities.
But I also wanted to do something different. There were already plenty of marketing podcasts recorded over Zoom, often following the same interview format.
The challenge was to create something more distinctive — a podcast that people would enjoy listening to and that gave me a reason to start conversations with marketers I admired.
The creative idea
What if the setting was part of the conversation?
Rather than asking guests to join another remote interview, Content Marketing Commute took the conversation to them.
I'd meet B2B marketers in person and record on location — whether that was on a walk, over coffee or somewhere in their working day.
The setting gave the show a different energy. Less formal interview, more natural conversation between people who shared an interest in marketing.
It also gave the podcast an identity that was recognisable beyond its subject matter.
The work
What we made.
From the original concept and guest outreach to on-location recording, hosting, editing and distribution, I created and produced Content Marketing Commute independently.
The format demanded more than a conventional remote interview. Each episode involved arranging a location, recording in a real-world environment and turning the conversation into something people would want to listen to.
It was a chance to experiment creatively while building relationships with people I genuinely wanted to meet.
